Comparing optical properties and photostability of wollastonite powders of various brands

Статья в журнале

The article is focused on investigating the optical properties and photostability (when exposed to solar spectrum quanta) of wollastonite (CaSiO3) micropowder of various brands. It was established that the reflectance and radiation stability may vary depending on the brand and particle size of the powders. The powders with the large particle size and expressive needle-like morphology demonstrate enhanced photostability and lower reflectance in the entire spectrum (from 200 to 2500 nm). The solar absorptance (αs) value varies from 0.113 to 0.257 depending on the powder type. The most significant changes in Δαs after the longest irradiation period vary from 0.168 to 0.262, depending on the powder type. During irradiation, a wide absorption band with a maximum at 360–380 nm was recorded for all the samples under analysis. This might be caused by the defects in the silicon oxygen component of the crystal lattice, as well as by the complex defects in the anionic and cationic CaSiO3 sublattices.
