Studying the Features of a PCB with Modal Reservation in the Frequency Domain Using TALGAT

This paper considers the features of printed circuit boards (PCBs) with modal reservation (MR) in the frequency domain. Two PCB layouts with and without MR were modeled in the TALGAT system, and then their prototypes were designed to experimentally study their features. The frequency dependences of S-parameters were obtained for both PCBs. The measured and the calculated results were compared and demonstrated consistency. These results proved the reliability of using the TALGAT system for solving such problems. It was revealed that the level of transmission ratio for the PCB with MR is lower than for the PCB without it. This confirms the ability of using the MR layout and tracing approach not only for improving the reliability of radioelectronic devices but also for ensuring their electromagnetic compatibility. This research also confirms the importance of building a more accurate model to simulate the change in the relative dielectric permittivity and the dissipation factor frequency dependences.
