Determining Microphysical Characteristics of Stratospheric Aerosols from the Results of the Multiwave Lidar and Balloon Experiment

Статья в журнале

The paper presents the results of joint lidar and balloon measurements conducted in Tomsk in March 2023 on the basis of Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences to determine the vertical stratification of stratospheric aerosols. The aerosol backscattersonde used emitters at visible and near-infrared wavelengths, one of which (528 nm) was as close as possible to the wavelength of the lidar (532 nm). Direct measurements of atmospheric temperature made it possible to compute density profiles to correctly account for the contribution of molecular scattering to the measured signal. Estimates of the Angstrom exponent for stratospheric aerosol were obtained from multiwave sounding data. Processing of experimental data was carried out to determine microphysical characteristics of stratospheric aerosols using machine learning methods.
